Band Program

The Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools Band Program

The study of instrumental music nurtures the holistic development of students in intellect, heart, and soul. Music adds depth to our environment, contributing in important ways to our quality of life, and is a fundamental way in which meaning is created and communicated. The MACS Band Program enables students to develop proficiency on an instrument, imparting values of leadership, teamwork, and an appreciation for the arts.

“With trumpets and the sound of the horn, shout with joy to the King, the Lord” (Psalm 98:6)

Picture of Sr. Stan conducting the band

Dr. Stanley Michalski Jr., also known as “Stan the Band Man,” started the band program in 1993 following his career as Conductor of University Bands at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

He spent the next three decades teaching music, guiding instructors and instilling a love of music in our students. His dedicated efforts built an enterprise that now includes band programs at all nine MACS schools, and have helped countless students pursue collegiate and professional music careers.

This endowment honors Dr. Michalski’s remarkable legacy, and ensures that his vision continues to inspire future generations. Your generosity “keeps the beat going” by supporting our MACS band programs. Thank you!
